Impressions of Macbeth

Macbeth has been a good film although sometimes I do not understand the English that is used. Shakespeare's language is confusing for me and as a result, I am unable to comprehend the events that are occuring throughout the movie. Nevertheless, I still enjoy the movie and the action is suspenseful.

Challenged Book - Nineteen Eighty-Four

After reading this book written by George Orwell, I have been able to visualize the pain and suffering the people of Communist countries have had to go through. Their leaders possess complete power over the country and as a result, are usually corrupted by it. In the novel, Big Brother is the leader with all the power. He supresses his people and limits their freedom by sending out the Thought Police, whom make sure no one tries to rebel against the current government in power.

I thought that this book was a good indication of how terrible living in a Communist country can be. Although current Communist countries do not take away the freedom of thought from their people, they strip them of many essential freedoms that we take for granted in Canada. I felt some connections between Big Brother and Adolf Hitler because of their similarity in political power. I enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it to anyone interested in politics.
